ELIGIBILITY

Artists of all levels and backgrounds coming from any country with a minimum age of 18 y.o.


REGISTRATION DEADLINES, FEE

Students (up to 25 y.o.) registration fee → 250€

FUNDING SUPPORT

Sponsors of the Santorini Biennale can fund a part of artist’s registration fees. Artists with special needs can send their request to: info@santorinibiennale.gr


SUBMISSION & SELECTION PROCESS

Step 1. Pre-registration fee of 100€
The preregistration fee will be deduced from the above registration fee if artists artwork is accepted or it will be refunded by 80% (banking expenses are maintained) in the case of non acceptance.

Step 2. Artists can submit up to 8 artworks through our online form and the curatorial team will communicate with the artist to discuss further.

Step 3. Curators will select one artwork per artist that most represents our theme “Peace Mechanisms” taking in mind how artist’s artwork produces a mechanism that involves a process toward peace.

Step 4. Into a short period, the artist will receive a letter of acceptance or a letter of non acceptance by the curators. The letter of acceptance will contain also all related information regarding artwork’s packaging and transportation as well as a consignment agreement.


THE ARTWORKS

Maquettes → 5m of width max. X 5m of height max. X 5m of length max.
Medium – Materials → any medium and materials except videos.
Number of artworks to submit → from one (1) to eight (8) artworks.
Artwork age → artworks must be new and never exhibited before.
Frame or boxes → all maquettes must be well fixed into plexiglass boxes!
Label → artworks must be labeled at the bottom with artist’s name and artwork’s title.


INADMISSIBLE WORKS

Works that are oversized from the above dimensions. Copies of works or works by a deceased artists. Works that are in breach of copyright or any other provisions of Santorini Biennale terms and conditions.


WITHDRAWAL OF WORKS

The Santorini Biennale reserves the right to deny admission or withdraw a work from the exhibition if for any reason the work, or any circumstances surrounding the display of the work, appears to the Santorini Biennale to expose it to risk of legal proceedings.


APPROVAL OR DISAPPROVAL.

Curators may decide to accept or reject any submitted work at their sole discretion without giving any explanation on their decision.


ARTWORK TRANSPORTATION & RETURN

All costs related to transportation and customs clearing (if they occur) are at artists responsibility. Artists can use the transport company of their choice and send their artwork in DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) way plus the cost of the insurance for damage (for both ways).

The value for all artworks due to customs regulations has to be declared as 0€ (zero value – for exhibition only & return). Please be informed by your transporter about any special custom clearance process may arise.

Artworks that do not fulfill above requirements will not be delivered by the Santorini Biennale team and they will remain on transporter’s hands and under artist’s responsibility.

Santorini Biennale is cooperating with large logistics company that will will guide the artist through all the transportation issues.

ARTISTS WORKSHOPS & EVENTS

Santorini Biennale will organise artists workshops and artists presentation under the theme «Peace Mechanisms» between 22 September 2014 and 05 October 2014. Participating artists can make their proposals between 01 April 2014 and 10 April 2014. All workshops will be organised by our event coordinator Black Lemon Events


VOTING

The Santorini Biennale inaugurates visitors’ voting. The voting process will be conducted during visits to the venues both via electronic systems, via internet and sms. The voting system will report results on daily basis at Biennale website.


ARTISTIC & SCIENTIFIC COMMISSION

Santorini Biennale is working towards the creation of an artistic and scientific advisory committee of wise composed of enlightened academics and art critics coming from the arts, the political science and the economic sectors.


JURY COMMISSION

At this 2nd Edition, Santorini Biennale will not appoint a Jury Commission. Visitors to the venues will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite artwork via an electronic system.

NON WINNERS

ARTWORK SALES

Sales during the exhibition days is strictly prohibited. After the end of the exhibitions all participating artists can sell their artworks via the Biennale e-Shop that will be online after the end of the Biennale.


INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS

Each artist by entering a work confirms that holds all intellectual property rights in the work and that they have obtained prior written approval for the use of any third party copyrighted material contained in the submitted work.


INSURANCE COVERAGE, SECURITY, SURVEILLANCE, DAMAGE & LOSS

Santorini Biennale and the Biennale galleries provides security, surveillance facilities and insurance coverage for any individual artwork during the exhibitions.
